Comparing the realme 7 Series Smartphones - The realme 7 and the 7 Pro

With realme’s brand new 7 Series smartphones, they are offering consumers two great phones at even greater value for money. In this article the key differences between these two devices will be explained, helping you decide which is best for you.

Designs

Firstly, looking at the designs, realme has come up with two distinct colours for both of their new phones. The 7 Pro comes in Mirror Silver & Mirror Blue finishes (shown at the top of the above picture), with the realme 7 coming in Mist White & Mist Blue (shown at the bottom of the above picture). The realme 7’s finishes possess much lighter shades than the 7 Pro’s.

One of the notable differences in the designs of these phones is the placement of the fingerprint sensor. With this, the realme 7 retains a side-mounted fingerprint sensor on the power button, whereas the realme 7 Pro utilises an updated in-display optical fingerprint sensor and a Tap to Wake display for super-fast unlocking without the need for a password.

Storage & Memory Options

On eFones.com, the 7 Pro comes in a single 128GB/8GB RAM variant. The standard realme 7; however, is available in three different sizing options: 64GB/4GB RAM, 64GB/6GB RAM, and 128GB/8GB RAM. All versions of realme’s 7 Series smartphones also come with expandable storage via microSD, so neither phone should have any issues storing all of your media locally.

Cameras

realme 7 vs realme 7 Pro Cameras

Both the realme 7 and 7 Pro feature quad-camera setups, having a primary wide as well as secondary 8MP ultrawide, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth sensors. With identical secondary rear cameras, the main difference lies between the primary cameras. The realme 7 Pro features Sony’s 64MP sensor compared to the 7’s 48MP snapper. Although both phones have rear cameras capable of taking sharp and colour-rich photographs, the 7 Pro’s superior sensor has allowed realme to implement some more impressive photo modes onto the device, especially its ‘Pro Nightscape’ and ‘Ultra Nightscape Video’ modes. Compared to the standard realme 7’s ‘Starry Sky Mode’, the realme 7 Pro allows the user to more freely adjust parameters such as white balance, shutter speed, and ISO manually to get the perfect shot.

Similarly, on the front the realme 7 Pro features a superior camera sensor, with a large 32MP sensor, compared to the 7’s 16MP. Not only is the front camera of the realme 7 Pro sharper than that of the realme 7, but it also allows for Full HD slo-mo videos at 120fps, compared to the 7 being limited to a standard 30fps at the same resolution.

Displays

realme 7 vs realme 7 Pro Display

Finding a clear winner when it comes to the display quality of realme’s new phones is a little trickier, however. In terms of size and resolution, there is little to separate these two products. Both panels are of Full HD resolution, with the 7 coming in at a large 6.5” size, and the 7 Pro with an ever-so slightly smaller 6.4” size.

In favour of the realme 7 Pro, its display implements Super AMOLED technology. This results in the 7 Pro producing more vibrant colours and deeper blacks compared to the realme 7’s IPS LCD display. As well as this, the 7 Pro’s display can reach higher levels of brightness at 585 nits compared to 480 nits, making it much better for viewing in bright daylight. The realme 7 display’s main advantage, on the other hand, is its 90Hz refresh rate compared to the 7 Pro’s 60Hz found on many smartphones currently. This means that scrolling and gaming on the realme 7 will feel noticeably smoother than on the 7 Pro, giving it an advantage in such operations. Overall, the realme 7 Pro’s screen displays nicer looking images, especially when viewing content such as photos and high-definition video.

Batteries

Similarly, with these phones, it is difficult to pick a winner in the battery category. The realme 7 features a larger 5000mAh battery compared to the 7 Pro’s 4500mAh; however, the 7 Pro utilises a more efficient 8nm Snapdragon 720G processor compared to the 7’s 12nm MediaTek Helio G95. Because of this, the realme 7 and 7 Pro feature near identical battery life, easily lasting an entire day of moderate usage.

The realme 7 Pro’s standout feature, known as ‘65W SuperDart Charge’; however, allows the 7 Pro to be charged extremely quickly compared to the 30W charge of the realme 7, and quicker than any other smartphone currently available. Although the charging speeds of the realme 7 are impressive, it does not compete with the 7 Pro, with realme stating that the 7 can charge from 0-50% in 26 minutes and from 0-100% in just over an hour, with the 7 Pro being able to charge from 0-50% in just 12 minutes and from 0-100% in just 34 minutes.

With the similar battery endurance of these two devices, the far superior 65W fast charging of the 7 Pro gives the product the edge in this category.
